No control of text hi-lites in Kobo FL+MO spec (11/11). Specifies SMIL timing in sec+ms but K4iOS seems happy with mins:secs

@fullcapstwit @lizcastro Haven’t seen this. Have two large audio files and can reverse through them (altho one spread at a time)

via TweetDeck

@fullcapstwit Thanks Chris. I have no gaps. The m-o works fine, what I’m trying to do is control the overlay “highlighting”.

via TweetDeck in reply to fullcapstwit

@LauraB7 @lizcastro many thanks Laura. Wd be great to know more.

via Twitter for Android in reply to LauraB7

@lizcastro Agreed! I hope Kobo has a spec document that will clarify their approach

via Twitter for Android in reply to lizcastro

@lizcastro M-O control & meta-data. Wd also like to check on other differences in OPS pkg (TOC?)

via Twitter for Android in reply to lizcastro

@bendu @LauraB7 whether there is a guide to meta-data, media-overlay controls for Kobo; other EPub3 standard diffs eg in OPS file. Thanks!

insteconomics Tellingly, you won’t see many journalists holding a press conference outside Fairfax objecting to this bit.ly/MXEA0e

@LauraB7 @bendu No, alas (beekeepers are masked, fugatious). Does he hold the keys to Kobo FL?

@lizcastro @PenguinPowered @LauraB7 Kobo iOS loads iBooks FL read-aloud but with subtle diffs. Is there an author guide? #epub3 #eprdctn

Readium 041 handles FL audio overlay (Canto I, Don Juan). Some glitches. Azardi will do FL or audio, not both (yet)

@Cocoatech Tried out several versions over the years. Finally bought PF6. Now feels like mature software: a BBEdit for the file system.

@gabalese @tinahender Correct, it just splits files at a pattern… Most *nix shell utils are just one brick in the wall, alas. :-)

via TweetDeck

@tinahender @gabalese From Linux/Mac/Unix shell use “split -p” with regex pattern e.g. at prompt: /usr/bin/split -p ‘<\?xml ’

via TweetDeck in reply to tinahender

Readium 0.4.1 accepts changes to Moby-Dick-MO Epub3 needed for Azardi, incl the use of .ogg files for audio. Standards work!

via TweetDeck

OK, IDPF ex. Moby Dick now working in Azardi, the only other EPub 3.0 compliant SMIL-aware reader AFAIK. Minor differences.

@luisparravicini Nice, compact Ruby script! Process one text file at a time using convenient Audacity output pairs. Less agony. Well done!

Hmm.. pretty simple audio in Readium. In Moby Dick example no control by clicking paras, tho each has own <par_id>.

Readium 0.4.1 (Chrome) reads aloud! Hooray! A fluid E-Pub with (SMIL) narration. iBooks no longer the only market
